Straight answers before you commit to anything

How long does a home EV charger installation take?

Most straightforward installations — where the switchboard already has spare capacity — are completed in half a day. If a switchboard upgrade is needed first, we'll quote that separately and can often complete both on the same visit or across two bookings, depending on parts availability.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade before installing a charger?

Not always. During your free assessment we check your switchboard's main switch rating and spare capacity. Many modern switchboards can take a 15A or 20A charger circuit without any upgrade. Older boards, or homes wanting a 7kW or three-phase charger, sometimes need an upgrade — we'll tell you upfront if that applies before any work starts.

Can I charge my EV using solar power?

Yes. We install solar-smart chargers that prioritise your rooftop solar generation before drawing from the grid, so you can charge for close to nothing during daylight hours. If you don't yet have solar, we can still size the install to suit a future solar addition.

What charging speed do I actually need?

It depends on your car's onboard charger and your daily kilometres, not just what's available on the shelf. Most commuters are well served by a 7kW Standard charger; lower daily use can suit a 15A or 20A setup, while three-phase homes with compatible vehicles can charge fastest. We size this during your assessment rather than guessing from a brochure.

Do I need Energex approval to install a home EV charger in Queensland?

Most home chargers only require a standard notification to Energex, which we lodge as part of the job. Larger installations — such as three-phase chargers on some networks — can require formal network approval. We identify which pathway applies to your property and manage the paperwork so you don't have to.
